How long does migration from WorkMail take?

Migration time depends on the size of your mailboxes and the number of users. We recommend using our migration tool to perform a dry run first, which will measure the actual migration time for your data. This gives you an accurate estimate before the final migration. Will there be downtime during migration?

We design migrations to minimize downtime. During the migration, your old WorkMail system remains operational. Once the migration is complete, you update your DNS records to point to Kopano Cloud. The DNS propagation typically takes a few hours, during which some emails may still arrive at the old system.

How can I import my mailboxes from WorkMail?

We offer an import service that you can authorize in your AWS console to import mailbox data. You can also use Outlook to export mailboxes as PST files from WorkMail and import them into Kopano Cloud. Can I keep my mail delivery and scanning with SES?

Yes, if you prefer Amazon SES spam filtering, you can keep your MX records with Amazon SES and create a Lambda function to forward emails to Kopano Cloud. Note that this will incur additional costs in your AWS account.

What happens to my emails during migration?

All your emails, including folder structures, are migrated to Kopano Cloud. Your existing WorkMail data remains intact during the migration process. After successful migration and verification, you can decommission your WorkMail account.

How do I order mailboxes?

You can order mailboxes directly from our webshop. Simply select the number of mailboxes you need, register, and complete the checkout process. Your mailboxes will be available immediately after purchase.

Does Kopano Cloud work with Outlook?

Yes. Kopano Cloud connects natively to Microsoft Outlook (2016-2024 and Microsoft 365) using the Exchange protocol. No additional plugins or software are required. Just configure Outlook with your email address and password.

What mobile devices are supported?

Kopano Cloud supports ActiveSync, which works with iOS (iPhone/iPad), Android, and most third-party email apps. Your email, calendar, and contacts sync automatically to your mobile devices.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes. Kopano Cloud supports custom domain names. After purchasing your subscription, you can configure your own domain in the management interface and update your DNS records to point to our service.
